Categories
Bulky & Super Bulky Weight Yarns
Chunky or bulky yarns are knit on needles US 10 through 11. Many newer yarns are using US 15 & 17 needles.  A great choice for quick knitting, in some cases they produce a fabric heavy enough to wear in place of a coat. Many of the new "bulky" weights knit quickly but are lighter in weight providing warmth with out the bulk. Look for gauges of 2 to 3.5 sts to the inch. This category has a variety of fiber choices.
Colinette Hand Dyed Yarns

In a small village in the heart of Wales, the creative geniuses of Colinette Hand-Dyed Yarns are busy hand-dying the next work of art to grace your knitting needles. As a Colinette retailer in the United States, we are pleased to bring their fabulous form of fiber art to you. These yarns have a variety of fibers and gauges. They are wonderful to mix and match within a knitting project.

Filatura Di Crosa Baby Yarns
The Filatura Di Crosa Baby yarn collection contains easy care classic and novelty yarns for the upscale baby. You will find everything from basic worsted weights to unique novelty yarns especially  created for your favorite youngster.
Novelty Yarns
This section contains novelty and luxury yarns in a variety of weights. You will find interesting yarns for scarves, and shawls, as well as fun additions that can add spice to a basic knitting project.
Sock, Fingering and Lace Weight Yarns
Fingering yarns are some times referred to as baby weight yarns. They knit at 7-8 sts per inch usually on US 2-3 needles. Most sock yarns are cotton or super wash wool with a little nylon. The nylon adds strength to the heels and toes for extra wear. Some sock patterns call for heavier weight yarns to which a reinforcement thread can be added. This section also includes several lace weight yarns.
Sport & Double Knitting Weight Yarn
The most commonly misunderstood weight of yarn is DK. Not, double strands of yarn but a weight of yarn that falls in between sport and worsted. This weight comes to us from Europe and has a classic gauge of 5.5 sts=1" on US 6. Many yarns imported from Europe have this gauge and are now available on the American market. A true sport weight uses needle sizes between US 3 and 5 with an average gauge of 6 sts=1". Sport weight yarns are used for lighter weight garments including fair Isle work, babies and children’s garments and heavier socks.
Worsted Weight Acrylics and Blends
These worsted weight yarns may be acrylic, nylon, rayon or a blend of acrylic and other fibers.
Worsted Weight Cottons & Cotton Blends
These worsted weight yarns are either 100% cotton or have a high percentage of cotton blended with another natural fiber or acrylic. They generally knit on Needles US6 -8 at a gauge of 4.5 or 5 sts to the inch.
Worsted Weight Wool Basics
The key gauge for worsted weight is 5 sts =1". Needle sizes may vary from a US 6 to US 9. It is used for knitting everything from afghans and baby clothes to medium weight sweaters and mittens.  Aran weight is a sub category of worsted weight. It generally refers to yarns that knit at 4.5 sts= 1" on US 8 needles and may be referred to as heavy worsted.
